Tunnel Mountain Resort recognizes the social responsibilities of operating a business in a national park, one of which is to minimize our impact through environmentally conscious business decisions. By continuing to invest and participate in programs such as Audubon Green Leaf Program, we utilize products and supplies from businesses that uphold high eco-standards.
Our guests can assist in decreasing our environmental impact by:
Utilizing in room recycling containers.
Turning off appliances and lights when not in your room.
Keeping windows closed during cold periods.
Using towels and amenities completely before requesting replacements.
Each year, Tunnel Mountain Resort directly invests into environmentally friendly systems and products. With your help, we pledge to increase our annual eco-investment through the following 5-year commitment.
Due to utility rate fluctuations, our investment commitment is based on utility unit consumption. Using 2009 as a base year, we used 591881* units of utilities (water, natural gas, and electricity). If staff and guests can decrease our utility unit usage, we commit to increase our current investment into additional eco-friendly systems by this same percentage. **
With your help, we are striving to be an industry leader in eco-friendly business practices, which will not effect our guest experience, but will effect our future generations. Any comments or suggestions from you on how to improve our eco-practices would be greatly appreciated.
We look forward to keeping you informed on the success of this program.
*Water = 13507 CM, Natural Gas = 10660 GJ, Hydro = 567714 kWh
** Additional Funding Equation:
(Current Years Eco-Investment x Savings Percentage (Previous Year To Current Year)) + Following Year Pre-Approved Budgeted Eco-Investment = New Following Year Eco-investment Commitment. Occupancy variances will be taken into consideration.
